Talk with Claire Fontaine

At the PAC, Claire Fontaine presents her artistic practice and the various types of experimentation she has been pursuing in public and private spaces over the past few years. Her work crosses new subversive imaginaries, covering topics such as gender relationships, feminism, love practicability, revolutions and human strike. By drawing on the tradition of ‘readymade’ and by fuelling spaces of de-objectification, Claire Fontaine criticises our current time, including with a taste for provocation.

Claire Fontaine is a conceptual and feminist collective founded in Paris in 2004, living and working in Palermo. Working in neon, video, sculpture, painting and text, her practice can be described as an ongoing interrogation of the political powerlessness and crisis of singularity that define contemporary society.
Her works have been displayed at the 2018 Shanghai Biennale, at the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein in Berlin, and at the Museion in Bolzano. Koenigs Books published a monograph on the artist, Foreigners Everywhere.
