In occasione della sua mostra personale PIÙ NESSUNO DA NESSUNA PARTE l’artista Cesare Viel ha realizzato per il PAC una nuova performance intitolata Il giardino di mio padre. Gli oggetti sotterrati (2019), dedicata al padre e alla sua scomparsa. L’opera è un lavoro sul silenzio accumulato tra un padre e un figlio, che riflette sull’identità di genere maschile e la difficile eredità simbolica del patriarcato. Interagendo con l’installazione - un’ampia distesa di terra battuta – Viel cerca e dissotterra oggetti, reperti tardivi di un contatto tra due uomini: quando esce dal terreno, tutti gli oggetti sono stati risotterrati. Ad azione finita, per tutta la durata della mostra i visitatori hanno potuto percorrere o osservare il giardino, sedersi sullo sgabello e restare a guardare il vuoto paesaggio ascoltando l’intervento sonoro ambientale. Su un grande foglio di carta bianca, incorniciato a parete, Viel ha elencato a mano tutti gli oggetti sotterrati nel giardino.
On the occasion of his solo exhibition Nobody Anywhere Anymore the artist Cesare Viel has conceived for PAC a site specific new performance entitled My Father’s Garden. Buried objects (2019), dedicated to his father and his death. This work tell us about the silence accumulated between a father and a son, which reflects thoughts on male gender identity and on the difficult symbolic heritage of the patriarchy. Interacting with the installation - a wide expanse of beaten earth - the artist begins to search and to unearth objects, attempt to find late findings of a contact between two men. When he exits the ground, all the objects have been reburied. At the end of the action, and for the duration of the exhibition, the visitors, listening to the environmental audio contribution, can walk or observe the garden, sit on the stool and watch the empty scenery. On a large sheet of plain white paper, framed, Viel has listed by hand all the objects buried in the garden.
