Parking (your own vehicle)

On via Palestro, there are 4 parking spaces reserved for persons with disabilities, indicated by vertical and horizontal signs.

Specific services for persons with disability

The museum provides a wheelchair for visitors with mobility difficulties.

To use the wheelchair, you must leave a form of ID (e.g. identity card or driving licence) as a deposit.

The document will be returned when the wheelchair is returned.

In the entrance foyer, the bookshop is on the left.

The bookshop counter is 88 cm high.

  1. Accessibility

Entrances

The museum courtyard is accessed through a wide gate. After a few metres, the building entrance is reached. The entrance has a large vestibule with hinged doors 120 cm wide.

Reception

The foyer is wide.

To the left of the entrance, there is a single counter serving as:

  • the information point (height: 88 cm);
  • the ticket office (height: 88 cm)

There are lockers where small to medium-sized items can be stored.

Exhibition itinerary

The museum is on three floors:

  • The ground floor hosts the ticket office, the bookshop, and the restrooms accessible to persons with disabilities;
  • The raised ground floor has 5 wide and barrier-free exhibition rooms. The room arrangement may vary depending on the current exhibition;
  • On the first floor, there are two exhibition rooms.

The room on the ground floor can be reached via 5 steps, or alternatively, via an inclined ramp with a 7% slope and a handrail on the left side. The ramp is about 80 cm wide.

Lift / chair stairlift / wheelchair platform stairlift / vertical platform lift

The three floors of the building are connected by a lift. The lift has the following features:

  • Door width: 90 cm;
  • Internal cabin space: 150 x 150 cm;
  • External control panel at a maximum height of 96 cm;
  • External control panel with raised numbers;
  • External control panel at a maximum height of 112 cm;
  • Internal control panel with raised numbers;
  • Acoustical and visual signal indicating arrival at a floor

Restrooms

The restroom accessible to persons with disabilities is on the ground floor. It is wide and has grab rails. The restroom has the following features:

  • A hinged door 80 cm wide;
  • A suspended washbasin (frontal space 151 cm);
  • Lateral space next to the toilet: 40 cm and 125 cm;
  • A handrail on the left and a grab rail on the right.
  1. Signs

There are vertical direction signs with clearly readable text, thanks to the contrast with the background. In some cases, the text is accompanied by an arrow indicating the direction to follow.

  1. Emergency exits

The emergency routes are marked. There is an acoustic alarm system.
